Mountain Shadows
Mountain Shadows is Golden’s local crag, made of hard quartzite and located only minutes from town, it boasts a great selection of routes from 5.2 to 5.12 with something for everyone! It has some 2-pitch climbs which are perfect for learning multi-pitch systems and rescue. It is a great place to have fun climbing quartzite rock and to learn about climbing techniques and systems.
Takakkaw Falls - Multi Pitch
Takakkaw Falls is the second highest waterfall in all of Canada and is located in Yoho National Park 45 mins drive east of Golden. This climb gives a great adventure, climbing very near the waterfall and even has a cave section to crawl through at the top! The ambience and scenery can’t be beat and this climb stay cool on a hot summer’s day!
Spillimacheen
South of Golden in the Columbia Valley lies the small village of Spillimacheen which has a nice variety of crags worthy of interest. The weather is often better than Golden, the rock is quality, and the ambience is relaxed and scenic. With single-pitch routes from 5.7 to 5.12a there are quality climbs for every climber here in this beautiful south-facing venue.
