Minors

Climbing is riskier for minors for a variety of reasons, for this reason whenever we climb with minors we select shorter/smaller/easier and less risky objectives. However it is impossible to eliminate risk completely and minors do increase the risk for a variety of factors.

Inexperience: Minors are generally less experienced, both with climbing but also with managing their own bodies during intense/prolonged exercise. Minors are usually less accustomed to being in situations that involve real risk and are less able to deal with fear or push through physical discomfort than adults. Minors are also usually less adept at keeping themselves properly hydrated and fed during exercise.

Distraction: Minors are often more easily distracted and less likely to stay focused on technical tasks, especially if tired, scared, or in physical discomfort.
